I have an 8-wheel Vermeer rake WR20 and I am looking for a way to lower only one side on occasion.
I think I can mount a bracket and reattach the lift arm but I thought I would seek advise first.
Any suggestions Pro or Con are appreciated.

you need to trade rakes if you want to lower 1 side.because the new rakes have valves that you can shut off on either side of the rake.

Look at the Kuhn speed rake sr12. It has a bar across the back that you can move to another position so that only one side will drop. It only takes about 5 seconds to change it.

Considering a new rake but they are expensive. Priced the Kuhn SR-112 at $6500.
Not a lot of choices nearby this late in the season but I am going to look at a Bush Hog EWR 12-Wheel rake tomorrow for $4500 new.
Anyone know if it will lower one side? I cannot tell from the Bush Hog Website.

The attachment on the Kuhn to only let one side down would be easy to copy. I'm not sure if you could adapt it to work on your rake but it would be worth a look.

Not real big on my Wr20 either, probably look at getting something better next season. Do you have the issue with the wr-20 hitting the front two wheels when lifting making turns? I have to really just barely lift it off ground but my father ran it alot this year and has really done a number on the front wheels going to have to replace them, they are bent so bad.

I am trying to visualize how this can happen. On my WR20 the wheels lift from the front first. I have never hit anything with them.
What are they hitting?
I like my WR20, it has been very reliable for the last 4 years. My issue is that my second cutting can be a little lean and I have to rake more than once for a thick windrow. Hoping the new 12-wheel will build a better row in a single pass.

They are hitting each other, the hyd. Are really quick and he isn't let it off fast enough or slow enough.

OK, got it.
On mine the tines never touch in the full up position.
Sounds like the arms are adjusted too close together.
Loosen the two turnbuckles a few turns and put the wheels farther apart.
