Tractor
1993 NH 2120 (the best), 1974 MF 135 (sold, but solid), 1947 Farmall A (bought, sold, bought back, sold again), 1956 MH50 lbt (sold, in 1980, darn it)
I know these DR Versa Trailers have been discussed here before, but not much by anyone who uses one. I found a lightly used one for sale near here. I have mostly flat land, mostly grassy, some grades. Trailer weighs north of 700#, has four knobby tires. I'd mostly load brush and yard waste in it to dump, so ~200# loads.
I want to replace an good old Gravely yard trailer plus a cobbed up Utility Co pole trailer that's bigger and heavier that I use when I have larger loads. I have a sturdy old CC garden tractor, hydro, and wonder if it will pull this trailer plus a load. I can use the Ford tractor when it's too much to pull, but with Ag tires it's tough on the lawn.
Any advice from users? How is it backing up? Moving it around by hand to get lined up? It looks kind of hokey, but reviews say it's sturdy.
I'd appreciate any input, thanks.
Jim

The Versa trailer is a copy of the Muts Trailer made in Canada. I think the Muts trailer is much superior and not made in China.

700 lbs for an empty atv trailer is pretty heavy. Your garden tractor probably only weighs 800 lbs. With that being said you certainly could move 200 lbs of brush with zero problems. Moving the 700 lbs trailer by hand maybe difficult especially on any kind of grade.

Here's a video of the Muts trailer. I'm considering buying one but they are pricey.

Good luck!

Yeah, I know it's Chinese made. I wouldn't buy such a thing new.
Really I wonder if my little CC will pull it usefully around my yard. Any users out there?
Thanks, Jim

It's about 750#, the same as the trailer, plus scrawny old me @ 155. Luckily it's mostly flat here. The walking beam suspension means the tongue weight doesn't help tractor traction too much, I'd think.
I went ahead and bought the thing yesterday, in spite of that reservation. It's pretty well made, and I think it was actually built in Canada before the company was sold to DR a few years ago. That's what the seller thought, as he bought it from Canada but got the paperwork from DR, so his transaction happened during the sale. I'll report on how well it works, and tows, after I've used it some. Thanks, PK.

Sounds good! I think you'll be able to tow on flat ground without any problems. Will be very handy for moving brush! (0:

Look forward to your report!

Why do they put knobby tires on something without a driven axle? Does it keep from sliding sideways as much? I would think it makes is a little harder to tow.

It would help with lateral stability. But more importantly it looks cool and cool sells! (0:

for all of us with no idea what a versa trailer is

as for tires, lack of options is another reason. who makes "ribbed" tires in that size? likely its whatever tire is cheepest that is that size.

While the Versa trailer looks pretty cool, I think the MUTS trailer is utopia. As far as the tires, I have the 8" wide 'boat trailer' tires on my Snoco trailer. They run about $55 each with rim, and are rated for highway use. Most trailer shops either have them or can get them for you within a couple of days.
