Veterans Day 2016 discounts

I know there are quite a few vets on TBN so wanted to list a few discounts or deals just as an FYI.

I will be taking advantage of the Tractor Supply deal-- %15 off and a free oil change at Jiffy Lube. Any other good ones?

I'm a veteran, but not of combat. I never got the DD214 card and don't ask for any discounts. I don't belong to any military clubs but fly my US of A flag faithfully every day, just as my father did who helped string high tension wire to the local ammunition plant during WWII then helped build the B-25 bombers. It's just my choosing.

AFAIK, there isn't a DD214 card, just the DD214 form. I have A VA card (with a file number), that was issued to me when I applied for the GI Bill's education benefits. I don't recall being asked for proof of service when requesting a veteran's discount, but I assume my VA card would suffice.

Whats a DD214 'card'? Do you mean the retired Military ID card? Only get that if you are Retired, Purple Heart, or 100% Disabled Vet. No need to have been in combat though.

California adds a "veteran" designation to your drivers license if you have a DD214. The legislation was passed to provide a standard ID for retailers and make it easier for veterans to demonstrate eligibility at various state offices. I never ask for discounts but got the designation anyway.

The VA says a veteran is, 殿 person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. If someone is discharged from training for health or other reasons in less than 180 days they are usually administratively discharged and do not have veteran's status.
