You also need a market, and the time to be around during the weekends from Thanksgiving to Christmas when people are buying trees. Also decent weather... 1 crappy weekend can make people decide to put up an artificial tree this year.
I'd be curious to know the proportion of real vs artificial trees, and how that's changed over the years.

ISTR 30+ years ago seeing every supermarket, abandoned gas station, vacant lot, etc. having a Christmas tree vendor set up each year. A lot fewer and further between these days. Maybe some are going towards cut-your-own, but I'm sure for many folks artificial trees are a lot less hassle.
Most husband's will say looks great... many wives want the perfect tree...
Heh. We've got wooden half-barrels at the end of the driveway the wife plants flowers in each summer. Just before the ground freezes she'll have me cut a couple small spruces to put in them. She's always crabbing that I get "Charlie Brown" Christmas trees. They look OK to me.

I haven't seen a pre-cut Christmas tree lot in probably 20+ years. Big box stores, Walmart, etc... all sell them now.

Brother was able to find the giant "Zip" ties which are cheap, fast and secure but also lots of twine but staff needs to demonstrate competencies for securing.

I used to have a small roadside lot at end of driveway when I was more into clearing my land, I'd cut the tops off of overgrown ones 7-9' down for a standard Xmas tree size Usually sold half of them plus all the u-cuts. But most of my small base of customers did it themselves, and if I'm around and they asked for my help I'd do it for them.

Is this even remotely true? I've known a few people who did X-mass trees, and all of them insisted that it was a great way to lose money for taxes. Not one said they made money at it.
Course, not a one was selling commercially, they did choose-and-cut.
I doubt any legal crop that will return that much profit per acre.

I calculated 1,200 trees vs 1300 trees on said acre but that’s not that important. The big problem you missed is you can’t harvest the trees every year. Then when you consider there’s quit a few expenses and $45 would the high end for a wholesale Christmas tree I think we can agree that 60k per acre per year is a completely far fetched claim.
He didn’t say anything about every year. You are right about trees/acre though, I used some convulated formula in my head to give me the wrong answer.

Still, at 50$/tree that could be $60,000...
Assuming they all lived. I don’t know what trees are going for, I just go out back to cut one
