There has been occasional heated discussion regarding Vietnamese reconditioned tractors, factory reconditioned tractors and so on. I stumbled across this web site that sell these tractors and I thought it might be of interest to others.
The web site includes numerous photos of the repair and "reconditioning" process.
Disclaimer: I have no connection to this dealer, I have never seen one of these tractors up close and no animals were hurt in the making of this posting.

Photos of the reconditioning:

That's interesting. I was at a place that sold so called reconditoned tractors yesterday. They had everything painted nice. They even painted the tires and hoses black /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. And everything else they could paint it seemed. Lots of new bolts installed too. Also everyone of them had an hour meter that had between 5 and 10 hours on them. It was interesting to see all the different models of yanmars and other tractors in person though.

Their prices have come down a bit. They used to ask $8495 or some ridiculous amount for a 1401D with a loader. I guess it didn't occur to them that there was a New Holland dealer in the area that you could go to and buy a brand new TC18 with loader for $9995. I love my 1401D but it's worth what I paid for it, not $7500 or $8500.

A good paint job can cover a lot of misery! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Vietnamese reconditioned tractors

Interesting sweat shop. I wonder if those are factory trained technicians /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Some of the package deals don't look bad for the price but the age of the units are not given as far as I could see. I have heard of the hour meter situation on these machines elsewhere, I wonder if they consider the reconditioned machine "new". The site does state that all engines are rebuilt and perhaps that is the justification for the hour meter reading "0". Appears to me to be a gamble with these machines, you eat the bear or it eats you.

Calpyro,

I've actually been to the main "store" for tractorco. He is located very close to HoseJockey2000 and myself (North Bend, Wa). He has nice machines (I nearly bought one from him and my neighbor did buy one). They are more costly than your typical greys but they look really good. My neighbor is now selling greys and sold his machine from tractorco along the way. Keep in mind that his listed prices are starting points same as when buying a car. I have no interest either way but they were a pretty good shop to deal with.
