Vinyl Horse Fencing

Has anyone had any experience with vinyl, three board horse fencing? I need to replace most of my fencing in my paddock and horse pasture. I have poor drainage in a lot of areas, and even locust posts eventually rot. I was hoping that the vinyl fencing would last just about for ever, unless it's not strong enough.

I've only seen it as I drive by some farms. It sure looks very nice.

Is the post completely encased in vinyl? If any part is exposed it will probably get just as wet as regular wood post.

If there's no way to improve the drainage on the property, maybe you should consider ceosote posts for long term.

I put some in for decorative reasons, no horses.

Theres two types. One type they mix the color all the way through, sort of like PVC pipe. The other is actually two materials bonded together. Look inside the post and you will see them. This is the better type.

Prices vary all over the place and I'm unsure if they are justified. I went with the cheapest I could find at $3.25 a ft. Some were over $10 a foot. If you buy in bulk, I think 6,000 ft, you can get a truckload delivered for free at a lower price per foot.

For strenth, you put two pieces of rebar in the post and fill them with concrete. This will make them as solid as any wood or metal post, but it's allot more work and expense.

You don't fill every post, just the corners and so many along the line. I forget the spacing off the top of my head.

They are fairly easy to install, like any fence, it all depends on lining things up with the holes you drill.
