Vinyl vs Metal Rain Gutters?

I am putting a vinyl waterproof roof under my deck and I need a rain gutter for it to drain into. It is a straight piece 24' long with one down spout. I see that there is vinyl that glues together, vinyl that snaps together with rubber gaskets, and metal. Any thoughts on which is best?

I would check to see if there is any seamless eavestrough outfits in your area. They will usually come to your place and run off a continuous length for not much more than buying all the peices for vinyl and it won't leak at all the joints. Good luck.

All the vinyl/plastic ones crack around here from the cold. Not sure if that would affect you. I agree with other poster, I've priced doing gutters myself, these guys come out and install seamless and it's not very expensive. It doesn't leak and I don't have any medical bills falling off the ladder.

I'm in California and managed two identical apartments... one owner insisted on Vinyl and the other I went with seamless aluminum.

The Vinyl has long since disintegrated and the Aluminum is still in place and looks good.

The problem with the Vinyl is that it is always expanding and contracting... also get very brittle from exposure.

My vote is metal... it it is out of the way... what about having a one piece made up?

Vinyl are a pain! I just replaced mine with seamless aluminum.

depending on the area of the deck shedding water.....

a 24' run of gutter with only one downspout is pushing it. at any rate expect to use the big downspout

oh and my vote is seamless AL

The best gutters and downspouts I've installed were while working on a project in Austria... 100% copper...

Apparantly they will last several lifetimes if no one steels them first!

Also the hangers are from underneath and the gutter profile is half-pipe... they are a breeze to flush-put with no obstructions...
