I have six acres of fallow pasture infested with Prickly Pear, about one acre heavily infested, the remainder moderately infested. I can leave pasture animal free for 2-3 years if necessary.

The University of Florida Institute of Food & Agriculture Science recommends Fluroxypyr under the trademarks VISTA XRT and TRUMPCARD for Prickly Pear eradication in pastures, as superior to Triclopyr ester.

I have searched eBay for Dow VISTA XRT and TRUMPCARD with no "finds".

I found one on-line source for Fluroxypyr in a quart, but price is $86.80 with shipping, which seems high.
Fluroxypyr Herbicide - 1 Quart (Replaces Vista XRT) [6633-385-81927] - $65.95 : Keystone Pest Solutions, Low price herbicides and pesticides

Other herbicide suggestions focused on Prickly Pear Cactus eradication?
I have Tractor Supply Store and Southern States Co-op both within ten miles.

Thanking y'all now and forevermore.

The rancher where I hunt uses Surmount
I believe he's used it on his ATV spot sprayer, helicopter and fixed wing.

Surmount. I had a huge infestation of pear, got a license to buy/apply restricted pesticides (which wasn't a big deal.) It took five years to get rid of 99.9% of the pear. First year I used a PTO boom sprayer on the tractor to cover the open areas then four years of spot spraying. Prickly pear is amazingly resilient.

Southern States Co-op, in addition to herbicide, recommends an application of Dolomite to change soil pH. They claim this will eliminate nut grass/sand burrs at same time, which thrive in same conditions as Prickly Pear. They claim combination treatment as long lasting.

The old guys at the Co-op have a LOT of experience. But it seems the University of Florida Institute of Food & Agriculture Science should have recommended Dolomite paired with herbicide.
