Tractor
Yanmar 221/Cub Cadet XT2
I have Yanmar 221 and it’s been a great tractor. Unfortunately this spring the oil pressure light came on so I took it to the dealer to have it fixed. This was a month ago.
I called this morning and asked what’s happening with my unit and the said just waiting on the part. They ordered the part 2 weeks ago. The dealer told me it had to be shipped from Japan.🤬🤬🤬🤬
Yanmar drops the ball in this area.

Any one with the same complaint?

Got it back on Friday. Changed oil pump and mowed but the oil pressure light came on.
I mowed with it for 2 hours and had no issues ran fine.
Light just goes on and off. I believe it’s the sensor.

I have needed parts twice and waited both times. I currently have what is a very common part on backorder. I would bet there is not shortage of parts on their assembly lines.

You need to get a oil pressure gauge and check it out before you trash an engine.

I would be looking for a refund if my dealer put an oil pump in my engine and it turned out to be a bad sending unit.

Have you checked the engine number to see if you can cross it to John Deere?

Yanmar found the problem. They had my dealer send the original pump back and they found there was some scoring on the regulator valve body. This caused the valve to get hung up and not move properly thus affecting the oil pressure. I should have it back anytime now.
This is under warranty so no cost to me other than not having my tractor.

This isn’t costing me anything it’s under warranty. My dealer is following directions from Yanmar.
They replaced the pump and it’s still giving a low oil pressure warning. This time it isn’t the pump.
The engine is at Yanmar now for failure analysis. They told me that if they can’t find the problem and correct it I will get a brand new engine.

I have gone through the same process with my tractor. Unfortunately, because it is under warranty, the dealership has to wait on the Yanmar representative to go to the dealer, access the problem and then tell the local people what Yanmar will allow. This last time my tractor was down nearly three weeks waiting on parts. In the end the dealer could only do what Yanmar would allow under warranty. I understand that process. However, when the tractor is sent home and I am told to watch for the same problems, I have a concern. As of this evening, the fuel gauge is still inaccurate. The Yanmar reprehensive could not document the problem correctly when he was there so it stayed the same. The dash issues are random, occurring in no specific order so they didn't necessary present themselves when he was there. The seals for the hydraulic pumps came from Timbuctoo or some other remote place. It may not have cost me anything but it did cost nearly three weeks of down time when I could have used the tractor. the local dealership has done as much as they could. I wish Yanmar would do the same.

Hub seal/bearing went out on my few months (30 hrs ago) back, I ordered the parts thru a dealer about 100miles from me, had then within a day or so drop shipped from Georgia. Other side seal went out couple weeks ago, seal back ordered took over two weeks to get it. I'd already found an aftermarket seal and had the tractor back together a week when the Yamar parts showed up.

After market seal $14

Yanmar seal $86 They are REAL proud of a simple seal, huh ?

they sell parts at an inflated price to make up for the low sale price on the tractor!.

You will find almost all dealers are like that!
You can purchase parts for less money else
ware instead of dealer!
Yanmar is not the only tractors that are having
problems getting parts! 2 week wait is much
better than 4 or 5 months for parts!
