Walco Pallet Forks?

Hi all,

My search came up pretty dry, so here we go.

My dealer has the cheapest price around for a set of pallet forks. I've heard bad things about some brands, so I thought I'd ask....

They are Walco, and $540 (plus tax) for a set with 42" tines.

Good?
Bad?
Ugly?

The *seem* as good as any, but hard to really tell.
They're going on an L3940 with LA724 loader, so the capacity is appropriate.

From my understanding the forks themselves are made by very few companies and they're all great. The frame the forks ride on is what the various manufacturer's build and will sometimes have issues in the build quality. Really it is like buying most implements, just go check out all the welds on the unit you are going to get before accepting it. If the welds look good, they most likely are and you'll have no issues.

Myself, when I was looking at pallet forks. I wanted smaller holes in the back rack/plate as most tractor loaders (like mine) do not autolevel as you raise them. I didn't want to be raising something and get it tipped back too far and have something fall through the backing plate onto myself or the tractor. A "fuller" back rack is harder to see through when lining up to things, but I've been able to manage so far. I'd rather have to hunt for a place to see to line up with what I'm lifting than have something come through the back rack and damage my tractor or me..

Seems like I end up going in blind most of the time anyway with my dad's forks, and they barely have a back.
The Walcos seem to have a pretty full back, but should be enough for sight... Thanks for the thoughts.

Still hoping to find someone with a set who can post their experiences.. =)
