This summer our neighbor son had a house torn down that was built around 1900.
House was to far gone to rebuilt ....that was first thought but it would have cost way more than he would have ever been able to get if he ever decided to sell.
So his loss on house my gain.. our daughter ask if I could make a couple of shelves for the grandsons. So I ask neighbor if I could have some of the boards out of the old house..
Removed several door casings and 2 rooms of base board molding..
Planed down the boards and here is some of what I ended up with.. I made the neighbors son a shelf and stand up coat rack ,sorry no pictures..but did take pictures of grandsons and photo of house being torn down. Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking and commits.

Excellent job. Looks like oak...? Old homes and barns are a great way to salvage lumber for projects. Can you get more and store it?

Thanks ,,,yea I used some oak ,, some wormy chestnut, and popular..
Just used what ever wood I could find..
I would have gotten more wood but someone had beat me to some of the rooms , and 3 of the 5 rooms upstairs had so much junk ,trash ,whatever that you couldn't even walk in 2 of the rooms and the other one was so wet ,,(rained the whole time I was removing the wood and the whole time they were tearing down the old house).

Thanks , after checking for nails ran all the boards through planer....because none of the boards were even close to being finished.. all rough cut ,,,some of the boards were 1" on one end and maybe 5/8-3/4" on other end ..
Just glad all came out as nice as they did ,, didn't fill in the old nail holes to give the old look..
