It sure doesn't surprise me that Exxon knocked Wal-Mart down to #2 on the Fortune 500. The way it keeps going up they'll keep making more money while I'm pi****g & moaning. It cost me $20.00 bucks to fill my little FarmTrac up this weekend. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

They keep making record profits and we keep paying more for gas. $2.69 per gallon last week-end here.

Ordinary people can profit from the oil companies too -

get some dollars together and buy stock in them.

I heard recently that Exxon lawyers have managed to put the 5.2 billion dollar court settlement for the Valdez disaster into what amounts to a perpetual legal challenge to avoid having to pay damages to the locals and Alaska. This story seems to support that position.

Two sides to every story, however I personally don't believe for one minute that Exxon would be above using this tactic. If this is true, I would not fault Alaska if they padlocked all of Exxon's assets in the state till this was settled.
