I've spent the last hour and a half reading old posts, downloading image software (free!), and generally getting a lesson in pixels, bytes, etc. What an informative site!

Here's a picture of the MF 263 2wd that I just traded in for a MF 243 4wd. No pics of it yet as I've been too busy taking the 243 to places where the the 263 would not tread! The attached picture was taken last year, and as you can see, it was a lot warmer and greener then. Anybody else ready for spring?

As I am a novice picture poster, someone please tell me if my picture is too large, too wide, takes to long to download, etc. In old posts I read of "picture posting etiquette", and I surely want to abide.

thanks

Nice looking (old) tractor.

Not sure of the size in terms of megabytes but it took a while to download with my dial up connection. Maybe just a bit longer than some take.

I'm sure you'll get more info from others.

Cheers

Don't worry, Unaka, you're abiding just fine.

The byte limit for attachments (which is automatically enforced) is 150K. Your image weighed in at about 134K, so you're right in there, albeit at the high end of the scale. I think the consensus was that 640 x 480 pixels makes for good viewing, but as far as I'm concerned, if the subject matter warrants it (as yours does) and it still meets the byte limit, the 800 x 600 size that you posted is a treat.

I think the "etiquette" you speak of had more to do with inline pictures. That is, pictures that appear as part of your message via the [image] tag. In that case, the reader has no choice as to whether or not he/she is going to download it (outside of setting the browser prefs), so folks with a slow connection might get a little frustrated. Also, if an inline picture is too wide, it would affect the width of the entire page, which can also be frustrating.

I believe the suggestion was for such picts to be no more than 300 pixels wide, and maybe in the 10K to 20K size range (can't remember exactly). The idea is just to keep normal thread viewing a quick and easy experience.

I ain't no official authority on the subject, but it's always fun to try and fool people into thinking I am. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Harv, I thought you were the brains behind TBN and Muhammed just lends you some web space /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Like I said, it's fun to fool people. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

In a showdown of brains, I wouldn't last one round against Muhammad. And if he denies it, then he's trying to fool you.

Harv,

Thanks for the good info. In fact, last night when I was learning how to post photos by reading old posts, I believe a number of the more informative ones were posted by you.

And thanks to all the other posters for your nice comments and replys.

Speaking of spring, I think it will hit 70 degrees here in Western NC today. This is good and bad. Good that its nice to have some warmer weather, bad that I have to sit here in my office and watch most of it through my office window. We're on spring break here at the community college where I work, well, at least the students are on spring break. We have to be here because.......well........I can't think of a good reason, actually, other than the president said we have to.

Good day to all
