I have a 2006 JD 5225 MFWD straddle-mount tractor with a quick-detach 542 front-end loader. It has the dual mid-mounted SCV to run the loader (under the right steps to the operator's position). There is no other SCV either at mid or at rear. I would like to set up additional hydraulic ports so I can operate a 3-point-hitch-mounted log splitter. The TSC log splitter I want has a hydraulic valve on it.

I would like to do this in the OEM, fully hydraulic way, rather than using some of these electric solenoid operated valves I have read about. I know that JD has SCV field kits available.

What are my best options? Should I add a dual SCV at the rear? Or upgrade to a triple mid-mount? What thoughts do you have on this modification?

From other comments made in other threads (search power beyond), I think you might be best to get the power beyond kit.

Here is a Deere doc that has info on the power beyond kit. Including the kit number LVB25697. Might be best to order through your Deere dealer.

You need to decide how many SCVs you want/need since the the valves are different for dual SCV or triple SCVs. Now is the time to do what you want once, and not buy a triple valve later to replace the dual,if that's what you want. John Deere does have field install kits.

LVB25691 is for two rear SCVs for a straddle mount open station.

LVB25692 is for three rear SCVs for a straddle mount open station. You will also need LVB25725. It looks like these two kits are for upgrading from a two rear SCV it only includes the third control lever and cable. Looks like you will have to buy the other two levers and mount from parts.

Go to your local JD dealer and have them print out the install instructions for all three kits.

I agree about doing it right the first time. Question about the triple SCV for the rear: what are some examples of attachments that require 3 SCV's?

Hydraulic toplink

Hydraulic toplink and sidelink
hydraulic rippers on a box blade

Hydraulic toplink
Hydraulic offset and height adjustment on a semi-mounted rotary cutter
(JD MX8 is one)

on the 2030 I ran hoses to my grapple on my loader only leaving me one left on the rear, it has dual mid and rear SCVs.

Opps! My bad  You do not need a top link with a semi mounted implement.

OK, thanks for that info. Just needed some direction on whether or not to go with a triple SCV.
