Looking into adding a rear blade to my 3215hst. Checked out a 35 series bush hog for about $500. Trying to get some input on this or any other recommended brands. I have a low lying area that gets a rut. Just want to smooth this out with a blade. Thanks

Chris,
You may be better off with a box blade for that purpose. Just a thought, and maybe you have other uses for the blade. Good luck!

I have a Bush Hog 3507 on my 2615. I bought it mainly to maintain a 10 ft. wide by 1/4 mile gravel road. It is a very well made blade for the money. I got a deal at $420.00 in late 2005.

I agree with Galen, a box blade might be better for what you want to do...also it might be a bit cheaper too.

Thanks for input guys. The box blades seem heavier. Will a 5' be too demanding on the tractor. Maybe should look at 4' width?

I run a 5' KK boxblade on my 2615 4WD. It loses traction before it loses power. I haven't looked at the specs, but the 5' KK BB is likely not as heavy as a 5' Bush Hog BB.

You should be able to run a 5' BB with no problems with your 3215.

A 5' box blade should be fine in my opinion.

A 66" box blade would be perfect but not many companies make ithat size. I know Rhino does and there are a few others.

Thanks folks. I'm ordering a BushHog 65" box blade for $475. I like the 3pt welded construction, heavy duty double strap hitch (seen several bent pins on used single straps), good weight 510# and easy pin adjustment on scarifier teeth. It would be nice if it had a swinging tail gate but I would have to spend another $150 for a 5' model . The 5' won't quite cover the width of the tires and the 6' is an extra 130#s. I'll let you know how my decision works out.

Well, I finally picked up the new Bush Hog SBX65 boxblade and had a chance to try it out. It works great! My 3215 has no problem working with it. Even up some grades. Just put tractor in M gear, set rpm at 2200. Slices through dirt like butter and I was able to make quick work out of my washed out areas. Leveled and smoothed out the area in a few passes. Then ran over the area with a harrow, seeded and now just waiting for some rain tonight. It really saved me a lot of time over using the FEL. Highly recommend!:) Check out pics.
