I'm interested in buying a D Series Toolcat for ranch maintenance chores. There is only one Bobcat dealer in my area and I don't think they have ever sold one (I know more about the machine than the guy I talked to on the phone). They faxed me a standard quote at full list and didn't seem particulalry interested whether I bought one or not. Since I'm not using the machine commercially, I'm less concerned about service responsiveness, etc.

I have a couple of questions from the pros out there:

a) Do I have to buy the machine from the local dealer?

b) I've attached the Toolcat Suggested List Prices as of 2-21-07 which show the basic machine at $35,860, cab enclosure at $4,195, road package at $1,760 and high flow at $1,240- what should I expect in terms of a reasonable discout off these list prices? (ps: I've also noted a couple of instances of Toolcat sales to government entities that are discounted around 20%)

c) I assumed that one of the advantages of the Toolcat is its attachment versitility, and being able to rent an attachment as it is needed. However, it doesn't look like any one around here stocks the attachments for rental- is it like that in other parts of the country; do you have to own every attachment that you may need.

d) Regarding attachments, they look pretty pricey- is there a typical discount off these list prices that I should shoot for?

Thanks for your help!

I didnt see where you are located, but in this area{east tn, west nc, n ga}
all the dealers seem to discount. Also, I have had a dealer who was not my selling dealer do warranty repairs and recall work very graciously. Could be sothern hospitality, or working toward the next sale!
By shopping around, you may save enough to cover transportation to your location.

Melgibson,
Welcome to TBN! I, too, had difficulty with the closest dealer to me when I purchased my C series Toolcat, So I found the next closest dealer and did business with them. As they are only just over an hour away, it really isn't that big of a deal, but in some areas this could be substantial. If you finish filling out your personal profile, other TBNers may know of great dealers in your area. Good Luck!
Steve

Some buyers on TBN have mentioned savings of 15-20% off list but that is in part being a good negotiator or maybe in the right place at the right time. For myself, I would try for 15% plus shipping.

#2 I have yet to finalize the price ( machine arrived at the dealership this past friday) from what this tread has stated it looks like you folks are saying 10% to 15 % of list??? Heres my last price since my dealer and i spoke,
5600D Series $35,305
deluxe road pkg. $1,760
Cab enclosure $4195
High Flow $1240

Consider adding rear window guard $338-, engine heater $130- radio $443-12% discount is fair to you and dealer

I have been negotiating pricing recently and I think your prices are high. It is a good time of the year to buy: 0% financing through Bobcat (love that free money), and dealerships are facing end-of-year sales number/quota pressure.

Do you get a bucket for this price?

5600T with cab heat/AC, Block heater, 7-pin control kit, 62" bucket, high flow......$37500

I don't know what "cab enclosure" means. Perhaps this is the Cab Heat/Air package? Their public information re: options is limited. Brochures/web don't give a good breakdown that I have seen.

Negotiate!! They want to sell it to you, and you really want it! Did they order it for you specifically? If not, and they know they can get what they want for it from someone else, you are not in the best position to negotiate.

It was orderd for stock, but supposedly they are only allocated one more for this year and people around here want them!!! So I am not in the best position. As it stands now the machine is "reserved for me" we do a fair amount of business with them so I have first option on it.
---As to what comes with the machine I forgot to mention that I there is NO bucket include in that price, I have several bobcat buckets, so I dont need another.
---They are "throwing In" a rear window guard, radio and beacon.
---- when I said cab enclosure I meant cab with heat and AC.
---- The machine is fully loaded minus a bucket.
And im aggrivated cause I know I should be paying less but I am not in the best position:mad:
