I have read a lot of threads where people want to ditch their pneumatic tires for solid wheels. I want to do just the opposite. My soil is soft, fine sand so the solid casters cut ruts. Even when I raise the mower until the casters barely graze the ground the casters dig in anytime the tractor is on uneven ground. Also, suspending the mower misses one of the advantages of having four wheels on the mower, e.g., the ability for the mower to float over uneven ground. So I would like to go to 8" wide balloon tires. That would mean changing out the stirrups to wider ones.
Has anybody done this? Any advice?
