I'm sure this has been done before, so I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

I've got a couple Unimount plows (have the lights and plow hydraulics and pump all together on the plow) and I also have most of a late '80s Ford F250 frame mount, which I had cut apart to rework it to fit a truck.

What's the best way to attach the truck-side mount onto the tractor? I'm not much of a welder, but I'm willing to learn as I go. I have a 120v Lincoln MIG, which might mean taking two or three passes if I'm welding structural stuff. I just don't even know where to start. Where should the mounting points be on the tractor? How do I do this so that A) the mount isn't a problem for the whole summer, or B) the mount comes off easy when the snow melts. I'd prefer this be a bolt-on setup.

Any advice, or better yet pics or links that show how it's been done before, very welcome.

Note: I'm new to tractors, won't even get the Massey home until later this month. Plowing the driveway with this tractor will win me MAJOR points with my wife, who is skeptical at best about the whole thing so far (the word "toy" comes, too often.)

I got a lighter plow off a jeep or something for my build. Manual angle & a winch for raising & lowering. I welded a 3pt quick hitch to a SSQA plate so I have essentially a 3pt on my loader arms. The plow had 2 tubes pointing straight back for its standard mount. I welded 2 pipe stubs that fit in the mounting holes to another piece of pipe. That crosspiece pipe fit perfectly on the bottom hooks of the 3pt for a hinge. A chain from the stock spot on the blade mount to the top hook on the 3pt makes it lift when I curl & float when I dump.

I posted pictures elsewhere on here if you search on my name & SSQA plow.

I did this for a friend with a Boss "Vee" set up. He runs an extra battery just for good measure, it mounts right on the front snuggled in that I beam that the plow hangs from. It was really very simple, the 12" I beam drops down from the front of the tractor frame to "hang" the truck side of the mount on, and 2 heavy 3" x 1/2 angles go back & up to the loader frame to accomodate the "pushing" forces. 8 bolts and it all comes off for the summertime work. He plows commercialy and it survived it's first season last winter with no problems.

HI, New guy here and this is exactly what I want to do to my M7040. Do you have any other info about how the wireing was done?? Thanks Matt

That mount happens to be on a 7040! He did the wiring but he had a complete factory wiring harness and only used the wires that he needed. I think he added a battery isolator and the auxilary battery gets charged from the tractor and it powers the plows needs along with the plow lights. He used the factory controller to control the blade.

I am hoping to do it without adding another battery. I don't even want the plow lights to work because they draw some serious juice! Thank you for getting back to me. Matt

Do a search for asgar, made a nice subframe mount for a kubota, look for some strong mounting points and design from there.

RustyIron, that looks nice, and that I beam looks STURDY. My MF doesn't have a "frame", though, which I why instead of running my supports back a couple feet as you have done (and as is done on most trucks) I'll run mine back to the rear axle. I don't want my plowing forces to come through the transmission and engine, which are the only "frame" the MF has.

And thanks, RedNeckRacin, good stuff, and good advice.

Here to help Scott. I copied the design and used it on a b7800 and a l3400 and it worked awesome. I just switched to the john deere last year because it had a heated cab. (Yeah, I know it should have been a no brained but the tire chins were expensive!) If you get it fabbed up, we love pics or better yet VIDEOS!
