Haven't seen any 1/2 barrels in stainless steel,if you find one you will need two men and a small boy to lift it.

EVERY 14.5 gal keg I've ever got was stainless here in Ohio.I've seen a few on Craigslist. They're probably .030 thick and not very heavy when empty.Worst case you get one full from a supplier and empty it(fun part)Last time I got one it was $40 deposit.Just don't take it back.

Thanks. That's what I thought I was gonna do. $130 for beer $50 for pump $50 for keg. The beer is a given and then jus ttake the pump back BUT my friend got an extra keg and let me have yesterday afternoon.

Now all is good in the world.

I've built a hot tub heater with stainless steel keg before.

That sounds interesting! :)
Could/Would you Please start a new thread on that and include pistures!

Thanks:D

I wish I could it is long gone and I don't believe I Have any pictures. It was actually two kegs one for the fire{top cut off} then the other sat in the top of the first and had the water flowing through it. It easliy heated our tub @ 400+- gals of water. I had to keep an eye on it or the water would easily reach a cooking temp  I have since built a wood heater out of an old home oil drum{275gal type} It has a roll of copper tubbing wound inside that sits over the fire. I originally used this one to heat a swimming pool, brought the pool temp to 100+ degrees acouple of times :p. It heats the hot tub quick and easy and I can control it somewhat better.

The reason I ask is we are setting up a hot tub inside a wilderness area on private property. We are cutting the oak barrel stays and the steel ring to keep it all together pre assembling it and we will disassemble it all, cause everything has to be carried in on horse or mule back. We have carried in kegs before and could use them if we could! Could you send me a drawing or detail description by private e-mail Thanks:)
