Sorry for the harsh words concerning its low FEL lift capacity.... We do need that for the dirt work we hope to do.

Hey now, there's no need to be like that. :)

The 300CX is perfect for what I use it for and is why I got it for my 4105.

The 4044m Deere is more comparable to the 4105 Deere.

Just to clarify, the 4105 is a bit of a odd-ball and is a completely different tractor compared to the 4044/4052/4066 series.

The 4044/4052/4066 series are the same tractor with different engine configurations accounting for the difference in HP.

For the 4044/4052/4066 series: Weight is around 3800lbs OOS without FEL, 5200lbs with FEL. Lift capacity is the same between them because the hydraulic system is identical (using the same FEL's as there are 3 different FELs available with differing lift capacities. The 'M' series is the budget line and the 'R' series are full-featured. Gear or HST is available in either.

The 4105 is not even in the same league. It weights almost 1,000lbs less with I believe a aluminum rear end housing. The FEL lift is around 1,000lbs compared to 2500lbs+. Smaller tires (14.9-24 vs 13.6-28). Lower GPH hydraulic system as well. 4105 has a 3 cylinder engine vs 4cylinder in the 4044/4052/4066.

I absolutely agree. And it came in, price wise, less than the top rated 3000 series yet had more Hp. It's a lovely tractor for a small acreage property, with enough "oomph" to handle large round bales. It never pretended to be otherwise.

And I completely agree with you. I just want to clarify a previous poster erroneous comments that the 4105 is closer to a 4044 than the 4052. The 4105 is a completely different, smaller, tractor. Nothing wrong with the 4105 at all, but with JDs' naming convention it is easy to assume that they are the same (or almost) as the 4044/4052/4066.

That's a nice attitude.

And is why when comparing tractor manufacturers and models, I say what I prefer without putting down the others. "To each their own" ;)

No put downs on the thread by anyone, just some good research on capacities for comparison. :)
