I have a 2006 ck30 fel bh. I have pressured washed the tractor and attached equipment but never the engine. I was wondering if anyone else has washed down the engine and with what product. Thanks all.
I've always washed the engines in all my motor vehicles, including motorcycles and tractors. Sometimes, just water, sometimes spray on a detergent first (Simple Green in more recent times), depending on how dirty it is. Then I blow off any excess water with the air hose, and run the engine until it's thoroughly warmed up and any remaining moisture has evaporated.
I also clean my tractor engine, I cover the air intake and spray it down with Full strenth Purple Power let it sit 5 minutes then use the pressure washer to take the grime off. I then run the engine till its dry.
Are you familiar with where the electrical components are located on the engine? Where the fuse box is? The relay panel is located? If you answered no to either of the questions, do not spray water under the hood. If you do know the locations of the items in the questions and decide to wash the engine STAY AWAY FROM ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONETS, FUSE AND RELAY PANELS WITH WATER.
I would not use a pressure washer on my engine. If you force water somewhere it does not belong you will wish you had not used a pressure washer. I would warm up the engine, but not till its hot, and then spray on the cleaner of choice and hose the engine off carefully and without getting any water on sensitive electrical relays, etc., as has already been mentioned.
Once completed I'd use an air hose to blow dry the important areas and then run the engine until completely dry.
Then I'd finish with 7 coats of wax!
