Washed the Tractor

I just washed the tractor. (I washed the wife's Volvo also, just for cover). Is it just me or does it really run better when it's clean?

Seriously though, it's time for maintenance, and it's just more pleasant to work on a clean piece of equipment.

I'm not a HUGE wash/wax guy, but I do rinse a lot.

Just hose it off and it looks great. Mainly because I don't like dirt and mud impacting everything and I don't like to drag all that dirt into my shop.

Nothing wrong with a little pride of ownership.

I don't know that I ever used WASHED and TRACTOR in the same sentence ever! I even stopped washing trucks and cars about 03 years ago. I buy only white vehicles that only show dirt till the next rain.

I wash it after playing in mud - like when I got stuck Otherwise it does not get very dirty.

I agree,also finding early warning signs which could save $$'s.

It's been so dry here (northeastern Kansas) lately that I can just "wash" off everything with an air hose!

Sounds like the forecast may change that.....

I rinse my tractor off several times a year, but I use purple cleaner sprayed on to get the tough stuff about once per year. I just spray the cleaner and let it sit a minute and then rinse off with a blast of water from the garden hose. I use compressed air on my lawnmowers to blow off dry debris.

I agree. That's a benefit I didn't mention. I always say before buying a used vehicle you should wash it. Of course that's not practical, but it demonstrates just how much you can discover with a thorough cleaning.

I clicked on the link in your signature to see what it was all about. (Insights and common sense 10 October 2010) I am not the most educated or well informed person but I usually hold my own in conversations with the "elite". However, I find it extremely difficult to fully comprehend the gist of this blog. Perhaps if it was written differently so the layman could understand it, it would have more meaning to the masses. Or perhaps, I should better educate myself before I even attempt to comment on this topic.
