Hi all.
I have been in hospital 10 months in 2012 alone. Just got out in Feb of 13. I had a liver transplant Aug 27 2011. Was on Kidney dialysis for 10 months. My poor little Mahindra had to endure various drivers for 3 years. Finally I have gained enough strength to cut my grass on do driveway work etc. Summer of 13 my Mahindra is happy again. I and my grandson cut the grass, no other help. Another good thing, God smiled down on me and in March he gave my kidneys enough strength to enable me to get off kidney dialysis machine. For those who don't know much about dialysis, it takes over your life. For me, just being able to get on tractor and take a ride to a far end of my property is a real treat. I can count my blessings. As long as I stay off kidney machine I'm in good shape. I fear for the folks who are on dialysis still yet. Today my health insurance informed us that a copay of 20% for dialysis treatments will be charged starting 2014. Never had copay before. I haven't had time to check other companies yet. I'm with one of the biggest health companies in Pittsburgh. They brag that insurance has stayed the same price. but, if your on dialysis the price of insured goes up a $1000.00 a month in copay. Dialysis is usually done 3 times a week. Cost just under $500.00 a treatment. Total for week $1500.00. The patient pays a new 20% copay of $300.00 a week or $1200.00 a month; to stay alive.
Reason for post: Don't take insurance renewal lightly. Don't believe just because your on medicare that they will not try to zing you. Same for others who pay their own insurance. Go over everything before locking in for another year. They say different insurance companies have different rates. Hate to change though, there might be value in staying with same company. Unfortunately us self pay folks don't have a union to fight for us.
Well, I'm going to change my oil in "new" tractor. After a 1000 hrs I am going to maybe change all the fluids. After all of my hospital time I am looking forward to being able to do it. It's a shame, I don't ever change oil in my old International Lo Boy and don't even look at my super C. Just like people, when your old no one wants to work with you. Maybe I'll change oil in the old guys too.
Cheers...Coffeeman
