Watchin the grass grow

With now rain since I've seeded 2 weeks ago I had to resort to watering this paddock.

I just got thru spreading 30 yards of loam and raking, seeding about 3000 sq ft .

It was lots more work than this 68 yo retired guy figured it would be.

I wish we would get some rain, so I don't have to water so much. It's been very dry here for a while now.


I'm sitting waiting for the grass to grow too. I'm too pooped to do much else.

This is about 70x320. And I'm watering about 30x30 at a time. But it is relaxing.

I love to watch the grass grow. I'll even check on it from time to time just to see if it's done anything since the last time I checked!!

I have always wondered why we spend so much time, effort and cost on getting the grass to grow .... only to spend even more time, effort and cost to cut the grass. Some people may consider that somewhat strange.

I'm doing it so I don't have to hear complaining from my boarders. If I can mow it once this fall then again in the spring I shouldn't have to cut it again. I seeded a three acre pasture year before last and a five acre pasture last year. I have had horse on and off them all summer. I mowed the five acres twice this year and the three acres once to keep the weeds down.
