Ford 7500 backhoe
Hi fellow members,

I am in urgent need of assistance, my ford 7500 backhoe is somehow mixing water and ATF fluid. It has an independent gearbox intercooler that does not draw any water from the main radiator (from what I can see)

It blew a head gasket and I redid that. I had a tenant on the farm with young kids and I assumed they put water in it when it was standing around. So I drained the oils and refilled them all...fired the thing up and ran it for 5 mins and checked oils, much to my horror I found strawberry milkshake on the ATF dipstick.

Where could it be getting water from as I love the old girl too much to kill its torque converter and I want to solve this issue so I can use it again.

Please help, urgently!🙏

Thank you!

Welcome to TBN. Sorry to hear this, but you would have more contaminated oil in the the torque converter, transmission distributor and the cooler that you can't get out by draining the transmission. The converter may have an access cover on the converter and a drain plug on the converter to get that out. The cooler lines can be disconnected to get some out, but several flushing will be necessary

Also, if I remember correctly, it uses hyd/trans oil, not ATF
