Max 28 XL
Hi all

Went to start my Max28XL tonight and it started and smoked then shut down and i tried a few times
To get it going but no luck. Then I checked the fuel filter and it was full of water:mad:. So I drained the
Tank down until there was no more water showing up in the filter. Now it wont start and I’m not sure
what to do? I need help on what to do next.

Thanks
TB

For a next step I'd probably put fresh diesel in the tank then bleed the lines to remove any possible remaining water or air.

You need to bleed the lines. After changing the filter their is a process to get all the air out. A lot of times their is a little hand pump or bleeder screw.

Once everything between the tank and filter is fresh fuel you will still need to get the water between the filter and injectors out.....unfortunately you will need to use the starter to cycle it out or use starting fluid. Folks will tell you both of those options are bad......choose wisely!

I love the frugal effort to “save” fuel. Most would ditch the whole tank of diesel and start over. Just draining off the “water” may not actually get all the water out. Probably not worth the few dollar savings at this point.

Find the fuel INLET LINE on the injection pump & loosen it..
Next, loosen ALL THE LINES AT the injectors..
Spin the engine until u get fuel at the PUMP INLET, NO AIR & tighten..
Next, spin the engine until u get fuel & NO AIR out of the loosened injector lines & tighten..
Do ALL THIS at wide open throttle,,
It "should" start now.. Good luck..

Makes sense.

I use an additive that is supposed to help:

Clear-Diesel Fuel & Tank Cleaner - Power Service

Is this just a waste of money?
