2015 LS XR4046HC
Thinking of dropping my fuel tank to empty and clean it. xr4046hc with 225 hours. Three weeks ago I got a light indicating water in primary filter and drained it. Light went out right away. That is when my regen problem started. On the next regen, it just stayed in regen for about 6 hours. Took it to the LS dealer in Jasper Ga. (great service, and service department.) Long story short, the pre-filter was full of water and mold looking slime, and the primary filter only had a little water. Basically the regen system was starving for fuel and wouldn't get above 540 degrees. Once the filters were clear, it went up to 1100 degrees and actually accomplished the regeneration. It has run perfectly since then. Today I got another water in fuel light, and drained the primary filter again. The engine modulated at idle a little. I've run a anti-microbial fuel cell cleaner through my diesel van before with good results, but that is a metal tank. Any idea of a product to clean this plastic fuel cell? I had not read anywhere before about the relationship of the fuel delivery system to regeneration/emissions system. Interesting.

Water stopped me also, but I d9nt have regeneration. Water and diesel never work well together. You may have to drain the tank. That what I had to do plus after got clean fuel and filter had to Crack a line at the pump to finish getting the water out.

I wish I got a better feeling from the dealer in Byron vs having to Gainsville.

I applied a "shock dose" of bio-cide to the fuel tank and it made a huge difference; it purred all day. I'm considering installing some sort of drain valve or petcock so that I can take fuel samples the morning after every fill up. There really isn't a sump on the fuel tank, but I could put it near a corner and then park accordingly.

You figure out where the water came from? Station or where you store it?

Cford36. Honestly, I think it was a combination of factors. Hesitant to do much work on it out in the mud, so it's time to build a shop.
