Yesterday I was using my TC24DA and bachoe to do a few things around the house when a hydro hose on the hoe broke. I lost maybe 1 quart of fluid or so. After fixing the hose, I topped off the fluid. Getting distracted by child and the dog, I forgot to put the plug back in the fill hole behind the seat. I then decided to power-wash the tractor and during power-washing I noticed that the plug was missing. Of course I'm not sure how much dirt, water and degreaser entered the transmissionion, if any. I had to move the tractor back into the garage which was only 75' or so. The dealer ordered a new plug for me.

I plan to now go ahead and change the hydro fluid/filters just to be on the safe side.

Should I do/be concered about anything else?

You could run it for about 10 hours or so and send some of the fluid sor anaalsis to see what is in it to be safe. Cost about $25.00 . Blackstone labs is who I use in Fort Wayne IN.
You may want to send old fluid before the change to see. Call them and explain situation and see what they recommend. 260-744-2380

It would have been better not to have washed it.
It would have been even better to have replaced the plug.

Tough Luck but hope it all works out all rite 4 U.

It's a shame that I spent a lot of time posting pictures and information about splitting my 24DA to benefit fellow members, only to get smart-*** information when I truly needed a good answer as to what to do......

I don't know. But I'd guess doing a full service would flush things. If you want to be double **** (and might be worth it) drain and change the hydro, run it for a bit, then drain and change hydro again. I'd imagine that would get everything out.

I guess some people don't make dumb mistakes.

All I own is a little TZ18DA, and I appreciated all the info you gave on splitting your TC.

If it was mine, I would change the oil and filters like you plan to do.

Definatley change fluids better to be safe then sorry, maybe even do a flush with diesel. I also like to clean my machines feel it is part of proper maintenance, how else would we be able to inspect for broke or loose things? Also when your changing your fluid look for foriegn stuff in the old stuff, water dirt rust.... If it comes out clean then that might help to put your mind at ease.

Don't feel bad. I blew a hose and lost quite a bit of fluid on my last tractor (DX33). Pulled the plug, put the funnel in and realized I didn't have any fluid in the shop. While running to get hydro fluid we had a freak thunderstorm pop up. Needless to say it poured for 30 minutes with my funnel in the plug hole.

Flushed all the fluid, changed filters, and all was good.
