Water temperature guage problem on Jinma 184.

When I had the tractor in to a Jinma dealer, no longer in business, the sending unit for the temperature gauge was broken, they replaced it with a new one, but it now reads backwards. Starts are 100+ red zone and then as it heats up moves toward 0. Oh, yeah, there is only one wire coming from the sending unit to the gauge, and they did not replace that, just hooked it back up to the new sending unit. Any ideas?

But there are two wires on the back of the gauge. One is battery, the other is ground. In this case, voltage goes through the sensor on the way to ground. When the wires are attached to the wrong posts, voltage flows backwards through the gauge. Simply reverse those two wires. If there's a 3rd wire, don't let it throw you - it's for illumination.
