Water tote trailer

Nice set up....
However, I do have a question...... Have you run it long enough to know if engine vibration is a problem with the pump being piped into the tank with rigid fittings ??? I'm thinking maybe you might need to replace the first nipple off the adapter from the tank valve with a pig tail type loop of non collapse tube....
This will not let vibration telegraph to the tank and damage the tank, and other components on the upstream side of the pump....
I dotn knwo how much fo an issue that would be. I worked for a landscape company and we hat a "flower watering skid" which was 2 pallets hooked together (2x4s sistered to the outside "rails" and a sheet of 3/4" plywood on top). That had a pickup truck tank on it and a 2" trash pump connected to the tank with solid PVC pipe (2" loop in and out of the tank with a tee for a garden hose and a shutoff valve after the hose tee).
It was 5-10 years old and worked fine pumping 6-8 tanks a week in the summer.

Any problems running the pump direct drive with the gas engine. I didn't think those roller pumps were rated for 3600 RPM that the gas engine runs at.
I have a similar setup but the engine uses a oil bath gear reduction unit to slow the pump down.

Looking at the pump charts I have they show 2600 RPM max, if the engine was ran a half throttle and had the hp to do so that would be a great solution.
What is your primary use of the tote trailer?

We are looking at one for personal fire protection.

Great build I like the details.

The engine I have is a Harbor Freight engine. It is 1,800 - 2,600 RPMs it is perfect for the pump. At the risk of Murphy hearing this...No issues so far. The pump is mainly for when I brush burn (a pile of brush). It will power a large sprinkler I have too. I use the gravity outlets for soaker hoses when I plant trees.

Good luck...

No I haven't. I don't see it being an issue so far but your idea is another good way to do it. I don't see the tank components being a problem. If vibration is an issue it will most likely be in the motor\pump mounts. The return PVC has lots of flex in it. The primary inputs do vibrate some but for now I'm not too concerned. I need to put some additional hard hours on it before I can honestly answer your concern.

I know its been 3 years since the last post but does anyone know where to get the bypass valve? I want to make one too for pressure washing but can't find much info on that part.
