you guys have seen these things

does anyone have one they use for toteing water around on the property for various reasons. (spot firefighting for brush fires, or watering that new tree in the way off corner of the property)

my question. If you do have one, how long have you had it and how has the plastic tub held up if it sat outside most/all of its life?

I put a couple horse water troughs (~75 gal) on a small trailer and haul them with tractor. I have a fitting in bottom of troughs to attach garden hose and let gravity do it's job. I've thought about buying some kind of container like landscapers use for their yard spraying that I could put under barn drainspout. I'd leave it on a trailer and then pull it where I want it. Good timing on this thread, I'll be interested to see what turns up.

I use something like that in my horse trailer to carry water for the horse's. I has never been outside in the elements but has held up for a couple of years without problems in the trailer.

Mine has set outside for at least 5 or more years and has no issues from the sun. Great for moving water.

I have two that a friend gave me several years back.
Cut one in half and use it to pick up "bought" potting dirt.
Put them on pallets sit them side by side and they dump
a yard of soil and very little spills out. Drilled several holes
in the bottom so rain water could drain.

The other one is still sitting outside and looks like it
is in good shape. It had been used to store molasses and
there was a small amount left in the bottom.

I've seen some big stacks of those...and have thought about picking one up for watering. Always wondered what comes in them.....all different liquids? The ones I have seen have a good metal cage on them. Curious as to what people pay for them?

I was interested in a couple of these for sap. Where can you get them, and how much are they?

Do a search on the nearest Craigslist, we see them on there all the time. I'm not absolutely certain but believe they may bring in juice in them from South America. I know that's where the blue 55 gal ones come from.

i've seen those being used for just about everything.....my neighbor bought one for $75 ......i've seen them as high as 150-250............but i think those folks picked up a few of them for free and are just hoping to hit the lottery.......my neighbor was supposed to get me one but the guy selling them hasn't been back around.......i'd like to have one out on the property to wash hands, water trees, set next to a camp fire, etc.....i think the one he picked up has dish washing soap or something like that...most don't seem to have harse chemicals, or i guess they don't make it to the market......
