Has anyone used one of those Portable well drilling rigs to drill thier own well?

Theres a post on build it yourself about a PTO drilling rig.

This is going to be my next project and will be drilling at least two wells. One for lawn sprinklers (city) and one for the drinking water at the cabin. Hopefully it will be a fall project.

I half though about it till I found the wells were I wanted one were 300 ft or deeper. and you need a sorce of water to use most of them whichi didnt have

I ended gettinga driller with cable rig in to drill he went 450ft.

I have one, it's a ton of work. You need lots of extra equipment to do it easy and right.
One I have will only do a 2" well. I was lucky to get 11/4" shallow wells.
Also probably illegal to do with out a license.

Check with your municipal water company, if you have one;it's illegal to drill wells within some "city" boundries, even for irrigation purposes
