Once you washed and waxed your tractors... you are hooked... cars and trucks will set outside in the weather and all your efforts will be spent in the garage looking after the tractors. Been there... Done that!

That lasted about two years for me. Now my tractor is a true tractor. Full of dust and dirt. I don't wash it or wax it anymore. I do keep it inside during the winter and under the deck in the summer to keep the sun off her. If my wife is washing her car and I have the tractor out I will take the hose to it and wash it. Maybe throw some wax on. If I get my pressure washer out for some reason I will hit the tractor with it. But I don't make plans to spend a day cleaning it.

That applies to al my stuff. I hate it when it's "new" because your forced to keep it looking that way, until the time comes when it's just a car, ot just a pickup, or just a tractor, then you cna get some real work done, without having to spend so much time being careful.

The first scatch always kills you, but at the same time frees you up, hmm sorta sounds like Confucius.

In my opinion washing and waxing are as important as changing the oil and other maintaince. When you get ready to trade it off apperance is very important. I usally by used so one of the first things I look for is traces of wax left behind. I believe if someone takes enough time to wax they probably take time to keep up on maintaince. If you are looking for a used tractor you will be more attracted to a clean shiney one rather than a dirty faded out one. Just my thoughts on waxing.

I've waxed mine and used to wax the Gravely, too. Most of the time, I air blow the crap off it. Usually only wash and wax it about once/year.

Washed my tractor for the first time today. Didn't wax it. I'm not sure I'd do that. Now I've got to clean it's innards. I've got 52 hours on it so I'm getting ready for the 50 hour service. My rotary cutter didn't get a bath as you can see in the second photo. You can see part of it behind the tractor. Now I need to get a tarp to cover it up so it won't get bird poop and dust on it sitting in the barn!

I'm the exact opposite. I think that people who wash & wax are less likely to perform the maintenance that really counts. Afterall, who's got the time to do both? I'm more inclined to check the oil, air filter, make sure there's plenty of messy grease around the pivot points, and ask to see actual maintenance records. I'm always suspicious of an over clean vehicle.
