WC68 Chipper Service

Woodland Mills WC-68 has a replaceable part called "Bed Plate' or Anvil. Has anyone tried to replace it and how did you get to it? Surely one does not have to remove the bearings and fly wheel? I may have to call the manufacturer Monday.

Bolts to the bottom of the feed chute, nuts are on the underside and you can flip it over to expose a new edge.

Thanks 5030, but my my model is not built like that. The Anvil bolts to the side behind the infeed roller. I can't see a way to get at it. The nuts must be inside the channel. I'm afraid to unbolt the thing, until I'm sure of the ins and outs of it all.

The bed plate appears to be held by three bolts.
Woodland mills web site has the manuals in pdf. if this isn't correct for your unit. (depends on model year)

My manual is just like the pdf that you posted. Here's a pic for others as helpful info, even though it may need rotated. I bought the accessory kit with the original purchase. It has replacement blades and an anvil. There are no tapped threads in the anvil. Maybe the bolts would be self tapping???,,,,that would account for not needing nuts on the inside? But getting that anvil out looks nearly impossible??

Look closely at the bed knife. The plate is tapped for the three bolts. No nut is needed then.

I checked my spare bed plate, (for a wc88) It has threaded holes for the bolts. Check your (bed plate/ anvil/ bed knife) again for threaded holes.

Either your anvil is not the correct part or the threads are missing. (defective part)

On closer inspection of the replacement part...........................It is tapped ..............well ""Duh-h-h!" Problem solved.
