Truck is set up for 12,500 lbs w WD.
And to my amazement a "local" place is selling the hitch for < $500.

/editAnd it's not an equalizer!! see later post.

One additional point on the chains, you need to adjust the head height and angle to allow several links in use. The more the better to allow more freedom of movement.

the setup vids detail all of this. min 3 links head tilt so that bars are parallel to frame when loaded, head height so that trailer sits level at load etc.
my 20' equipment trailer is fairly tongue heavy with no load so ill run mine even when empty to help with porpoiseing. but i run 1 link above my normal setting.

3 links sound awfully low. I think mine says a minimum of 5.

I use a 12k equalizer hitch on a 20ft equipment trailer for sway control as well as weight distribution.

the equalizer website has a calculator you can use to see what weight of hitch is right for your setup.

So I go to the RV place I called about the Equal-i-zer. They are selling the Equalizer AND what they called the "Equalizer 2"!!

The "Equalizer 2" aka the Fastway 2 Fastway Trailer Products - Home looks like a less robust knockoff of the Equalizer. It's also sold by etrailer. And provides 2 point vs 4 point sway control.

For a 12K WD the E is $600, the E2 is $415.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. :(

Well, tying up loose threads -
Bought the 1400 Equal-I-zer (14,000 lb capacity) and a 15K ball from PPL. Ordered it on Friday, received the bars on Saturday and the rest of the hitch Monday morning (today as I write).

That should take care of my 12K trailer.

Service from PPL was great!! - $10 shipping next business day it turned out.

Decided to remove the trailer tongue box because the bracket was in the way. Can probably put it back on a few inches further back w/o a problem.

Thanks guys for all the input from the TBN borg.

Orange is sometimes confusing. I thought this thread was going to be about hooking up the traction booster on an Allis Chalmers WD so it worked with the drawbar hitch.
