That was surprising.
I wonder how well WD-40 would do if you used the silicone kind? I used that on my sawmill to take the pitch off the blade, and BANG, the second I would use it, it was so slippery it would slip the blade right off the mill! It worked good on the slides on the sawrig itself though.
I also wonder what normal wax would do? It would be a pain to replace all the time, but I bet it would make the snow slide right off the blade.
For me, I use a grader blade to plow snow, finding most storms are under 1 foot in depth, so I can drive through the snow and use my grader to push the snow off my roads and driveway. Because I can go in 6th gear, it shaves about an hour off my snow clearing time.

I'm not surprised that Fluid Film didn't do so well. It's a protectant, not a lubricant. I was surprised that WD40 did as well as it did. I'm not that fond of it as either a lubricant or a penetrating fluid. My impression is that silicon sprays do a better and longer lasting job as lubricants.

I end up using WD-40, more as a cleaner than anything. It works good for that.
I did see a history channel show on WD-40 the other day though, and only 5 people know the (6) ingredients they use to make their formula. They also said that while duct tape gets notoriety for being in a lot of households, they 80% of houses have at least one can of WD-40 kicking around. Kind of a neat useless fact, but interesting.

In the second test (in video) I continued on from where I left off in the video and I noticed when I finished that there was a fuzz of snow covering most all of the area that the Fluid Film was on. So that seems to reinforce the protectant characteristic you mention.
