We got the Christmas tree up today!

Every year the girl across the street, more or less our third daughter, has a lot to say if we don't have our Christmas tree showing in the window before hers. I posted this photo to her last night with a title of 'We got the Christmas tree up!'

The real story:

Out at the ranch I had to top a Redwood tree that interfered with the windmill's tail. I brought the top back to town and stuck it in the leaf debris that the city crew picks up weekly. This neighbor and others were amused. One said she had an ornament ready to put on it if the city hadn't taken it so quickly.


Our post last year to our friend when we saw her tree up before ours:

"Our tree's up and the lights are on it!!!"

I also got "the big one" lit up in the front yard....

After: (250 strands of lights, 100 individual bulbs per strand, for a grand total of 25,000 imported Italian twinkle lights.... OK, its only 3600 lights, but I couldn't resist the quote).

Yeah. But it wasn't them this time. We expected it to be the new "prison cat" that we adopted this summer, but he was sitting next to me and took off before I hear the tree falling. Turns out the trunk is horribly bent, we put the side with fewer branches to the corner, and the family hung all the ornaments on the front of the tree.... lasted about an hour! :laughing:

We re-arranged the bolts in the stand and used some high strength fishing line to tie it to the cabinet behind the tree. Surprisingly, cats aren't bothering it.

Our 8 cats don't bother with the tree, that we know of. We always put it in the corner of the living room and tie it off to the two walls. (an ounce of prevention)
