My new L3010 rolled into town late this morning just ahead of an ice storm! Wow, I am SO stoked! She was a little grubby from her trip (yes, it was obviously a girl), and the moment I sat in that cushy seat her name came to me. Maybe it was the fact that I was surrounded by so much orange, but the name immediately made sense. Please welcome Clementine to the forum! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
I had a little trouble getting up my hill despite the aggressive skidder chains. She just didn't seem to have the gripping power of the little B1750 with iron on all four corners. But then I checked the settings and sure enough, I had her in 2WD. Doh! I've never had my 1750 OUT of 4WD, so it never occurred to me to check.
But once I fixed that little oversight, she performed like a champ! At the crest of my hill is a section of ice about 2" thick and 100' long. No getting around it because of a stone wall, but Clem's chains dug in and kept her going straight thru the slick stuff. Spent about an hour moving snow with the FEL. Lots more lifting capacity, and the hydraulics are MUCH faster that the B-series tractor, "Old Paint."
The ice was coming down pretty heavy by then, so I kicked the Honda out of the garage and put Clementine in that place of honor. Had to sacrifice a worn flannel blanket for her first rub down to get rid of all the road grime. She sure fills that middle bay!
I love the rear hydraulics on that blade. I got the LandPride RB3572 -- really heavy duty with tilt and hydraulic angle -- and with the increased weight of the ballasted 3010 it really moves the snow around.
Can't play with her again till this weekend, but wanted to let you all know she's here, safe and sound. Will post pics this weekend.
Gotta go change my profile now. Pete
