Weak point in self propelled mower?

What would the weak point in the drive system of a self propelled front drive mower?
The drive wheels?
The transaxel?

I have a 7hp self propelled mower and I want to use it for some really rough mowing with some really steep berms and such. I have been using a sickle bar rough terrain mower for a few years but its starting to get smooth enough to do it (kind of) with the mower set at the highes setting.
Its bouncing around pretty violently from the rough ground and just wanted to know what to expect in terms of repair parts.

I would guess if the slope is steep enough, you'll have engine oil going to one side and messing with the engine lubrication.

Other than that, there is such a wide variation in drive systems that it's hard to say what might cause trouble other than whatever can vibrate loose.

I'd suggest that the worst problem would be losing traction trying to go uphill. I'd like to hear your experience in that regard.

My only problem on my rear wheel drive mower was the drive belt coming off the axle pulley when I hit bumps. I fixed this by adding some washers to the axle mount. This slightly changed the angle of the axle/pulley.

I'd also suggest you go over the mower and tighten all the nuts and bolts including any bolts on the handles. Add spring washers if needed. Anything that can fall off, will.
