I have a hay wagon that tries to pass my pick-up on both sides LOL.I can only go about 5 MPH and sometimes that is to fast to keep it from trying to pass. How do I fix this ????
Makes a short trip seem like an unwanted vacation.I can't remember all the tricks to making them follow me instead of trying to pass me.Please help.Hay season is happening and the wagon is still trying to pass.
Thanks will check on answers in the morning if I can figure out how.
Hard day ahead today so must get to bed.
Thanks Later Sarah

Welcome to TBN
Must be quite a story surrounding your handle.

I'm assuming your hay wagon has a tongue which steers/turns the front axle and that the whole rig is about 20 ft long and likely well worn/used. A description of your hay wagon would help.

The behavior you are describing is common to old trailers/wagons....the southern "cotton trailer" is a good example. It is caused by worn components and is inherent to the design....I have two such trailers myself.

Tighten components to reduce the slack/play in the front axle steering ...and drive slow. My experience is that this behavior will continue in spite of your best efforts...

Good luck.

If the front steering wheels have adjustments it's time to do an alignment.

Center the tongue straight ahead. Measure the front and back tire distance from the wagon centerline. Each side should measure the same with the front distance about 1/2 in or so less than the back measurement.:)

A longer tongue will also help.:)
