Have you ever seen AGPhD? It's a weekly TV show on RFD-TV from the Hefty Seed Co., and these guys seriously hate weeds, and always have up to date advice on the latest weed killers. They have a website: Hefty Seed Company - Ag Chemicals, Seed, Fertilizer, and Equipment
and I'm sure they'd have info listed there or you could get someone at the co. to answer your questions.

Good luck.

Go to your local chemical dealer (not tsc) and tell them what your problem is and they will advise you how to deal with the problem in your area.

Here is a site I use a lot for weed identification and chemical recomendations for their control.

Weed/Brush Identification

There is sometimes a problem with nomenclature in that the same weed can be called different things in different parts of the country. I had a quick look for your "wild mustard" and didn't see anything but you can browse the photos to see if you can identify it.

Generally speaking, any of the pasture/range herbicides won't harm your grass if applied correctly BUT read the instructions carefully before you use them - there may be exceptions. I'm not familiar with the herbicide that you bought but I don't understand why it wouldn't work now. Usually they work best when the weeds are small and actively growing but that doesn't mean that they won't work when the weeds are more mature. It may take a application rate at the higher end of the recommended scale and may need more than one application, but they will still work.

I hope you find your weed and get it killed off. It sometimes takes a couple of years to get the weeds under control in a new pasture and get the best possible hay but it's worth the effort. Best of luck.

I have the same weed in my alfalfa field. Well, I did. Last weekend my kids spent all day out there hand picking them. Problem solved. It's the cleanest looking alfalfa field in the county now.

The local chemical suppliers don't sell any of the chemicals listed for use on alfalfa around here. All I can do is a preemerge in the early spring and that's it. Hand picking is our only option.

I stopped by my local seed dealer and he said the weed (yellow rocket) will die off shorty and the best time to spray is in the spring . So I quess I will have to wait until spring to kill off the weed .

There are too many to pick

That's a little worse than mine was. I was wondering if you are planning to bale it? If I was just baling for my own animals I'd just bale it off early and the mustand probably won't come back. It doesn't grow in the heat of summer down here at least. Our first cutting is the only one we ever have any weeds in. It's nice to have two teenagers that need somethign to do.

What are you going to spray on it? I was curious. Raptor is the chemical I keep trying to get for my alfalfa but noone sells it locally. It kills pretty much everything but alfalfa, peanuts and soybeans. It does kill most grasses too.

Well my seed dealer sold me a chemical known as Butoxone 200 it is for seedling alphalpha ,and established ,but he said the mustard will die off shortly in a few weeks ,and he said it will not come back for 2nd cut.

And then in spring I will spray to kill the weeds so I will not have any problems next year. I can see already the weeds are starting to loose color. and yes I am going to cut the hay ,it is for my personel use.
