Well , As i told yall the other day , I had some yellowbell trees that had gotten out of hand. So i figured it was time for me and Johnny D to go to work. :D I thought i would need the backhoe. but that was not the case at all. I just used the bucket to pop them up , didn't even have the toothbar on. thay came up easier than i thought. even though some did have about 2 inch roots. So after i got them up i knew i had some concrete block i been taking down on the old wall behind the garage to get ready for the add on. and some other debree i needed to get rid of. so instead of hauling all that mess off. i decided to dig a great big hole. witch means i would get to play with the hoe..:) seat time is always a good thing. so i went down to the bottom of the property. and found me a spot. and started digging. my big hole. as you will see in the pictures its. not a pretty hole. . I never claim to be a expert backhoe operator. But for a little less than 2 hours. i thought i did pretty good...;) its 10 feet wide and 8 1/2 feet long . I learned a trick while doing this. the 46 hoe digs about 6.7 inches deep. on flat ground. I found a way to cheet a little....:p , If you take the loader and jack the front end up about 10 inches. and dont lift the rears off the ground. you can get right around 7 1/2 foot flat bottom. or 7.4 is what i mesured. a little uncomfortable. as you are leaning foward. but it can be done. i was just testing to see what the most depth i could get. I dug from two different directions. and moved back twice. so not to bad for a hour and 45 min work. I stuck the boom down in the hole and climbed down in it. the pictures dont do it justice at all. its alot bigger than it looks. I put alot of crap in it . and its no where near filling it up. i should get to keep some good dirt. to fix the front yard. in one picture. you can see the block wall behind the garage we are tearing down and putting in the hole. the bigest problem i have. is when you back up and keep digging. dirt clods fall in your hole. once you dug back about 7 feet. your boom is not long enough to reach the center of your hole anymore to clean it out..:( I really had a good time digging and moveing debree today....:) all went well. except. about 5 foot down i did hit a huge rock on one of the corners. with the bucket. it sounded like a shotgun blast. I knew i just ripped a tooth off. but it didnt..:) But one of my outsude teeth was bent.......:( Not bad. But Johnny D now has a wound...:D i wont worry about it till it breaks. then get new ones. I hear JD teeth on hoes are known to break. so i will get some spairs , All in all a nice sunday worth or good seat time. and i had fun...:) And i did post a picture of the tractor dirty. ..:D yall say i never get it dirty. but tomorrow afternoon. it will be clean again...:p and as always here is some pictures of the days activities..;)

Chris....:)

Nice work Chris -

The only thing I would say about burying things like that on your property - is one day you might have to deal with it again. You seem to be expanding in your area and you can never rule out the need to be build on in that area- I learned myself from similair mistakes. Its so much easier to haul away these days - But the good part is you know have the means of removing it easy enough when that time comes. I thought you have a dump trailer?
I never tried using the FEL for leverage to gain that extra digging depth - thats a good tip when the time comes.

Your right AKfish. i am loveing it....:) I finished tareing out the rest of that block wall today. and put it in my hole and filled it in. Yes the ground here is like concrete. digging a hole with the fel. is out of the question. ..:( I must say. everyone needs a backhoe..;) I took a sledge hammer and beat and beat. . I was going no where fast......:( So i flipped ole Johnny D around. and took the hoe. and just ripped that wall a part.
it was tareing these blocks to peaces like it was nothing. til the wall gave in and came crashing down....:D I will never not own a backhoe...;)

Duc , i do have a friend that has a dump trailer. i do not have one.
the reson i dug the hole was two resons. 1 around here it cost a fortune to dump concrete in the land fills. i dont know why..:( and 2 and most important. i wanted to play with the hoe. and get some seat time with it...:D
Hay , I am honist.....;)

Its probably the one inexpensive price to pay around here - because everybody is making $$ hand over fist - I drop off concrete by the yard or the ton -my choice and which ever is cheaper. I come back a few hours later to pick up 6 yrds or so of 1/4 blend for a driveway and such, and I bet its the same concrete I dropped off earlier for a few dollars a yard - then I resell it.
