I've tried to read a bunch of the threads here. Including, but not limited to:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/trailers-transportation/84011-weight-distribution-hitch-2.html

and I posed this question in '09

OK -

Equalizer - Equal-i-zer Hitch - Product Info - Specifications
best quick price $500 Equalizer Weight Distribution hitch - 12,000 lbs - By Progress Mfg looks about the best

However, I've got a breakaway battery box welded on the inside drivers side of the Vframe on my trailer. at 22" to 31.5", and a crossbar at 33". How wide and thick are the link plates?

The ruler is showing the distance from the ball center.

Most of the hitches I've seen seem to have a hookup which falls in that range.

I could easily reroute the battery wires, but moving the box and/or frame crossbar would be a problem. I know I'm going to have a couple more trailers so I was hoping to get a WD hitch that I could move among trailers w/o drilling holes.

Does anyone know of a relatively easy solution for a good hitch?

thanks in advance

Just use the weld on WD brackets on the outside of the tongue instead of the bolt ons.

I bought this system from H.F. onsale for $168.00 ? Just measured the brackets on my trailer & they are about 29.5 '' from the center of the coupler ball to center of the bracket. Don't know it yours would be the same or not

They are all fairly close to that, his battery box and cables will interfere with clamp on brackets.

They have bolt on options for the snap up brackets. This will eliminate the need to use the set screw that interferes with the battery box.

Thanks guys but welding or drilling is a step further than I wanted to go, since I want to be able to "quickly" move it between trailers.

I was hoping for a model w/ longer or shorter bars.

You can buy just the brackets and add them to as many trailers as you like. That would let you use the same bars and hitch with all of them. I think that would be easier than moving brackets when you switch trailers anyway.

Yup, just buy more brackets, fairly cheap, 15$ or so? My trailer had them welded on already when I bought it.
