Tractor
Kubota L3130HST 4WD, BX2350
I'm trying to come up with an accurate total weight for my tractor setup and while I've been able to come up with the specs for most everything I can't find the weight of the BH-90. I do have the bucket weight.. but can't find anything on the backhoe itself.. or what the subframe kit added to the tractor weight.

I've checked over the Kubota website, the forums here, and a general internet search.

It seems to me I once spotted a weight figure in kubota literature.. but I'm unable to find it now.

Anyone out there have an accurate idea?

thanks for any help!

(L3130HST, 723 Loader with standard bucket, BH90 with 18" bucket, Loaded R4s, hey.. I gotta be pushing 7000 lbs anyway)

Kubota lists the shipping weight of the BH90 at 2000 lbs, add in a couple of hundred for the sub frame and you should be around 2100 to 2200 total for the backhoe less the bucket.

If the subframe for a BH90 is anything like the one for my 4560, which is an older but comparable BH model for the L series, there's more than 200 lbs. of steel in it. I'm just guessing, but it sure looks like there's 400-500 lbs there. I figure the total 4560 unit adds 2,500 lbs... I'd wager the BH90 is probably about the same.

I bet you are well over the 7,000 pound weight. Loaded tires, 723 and bucket and BH-90. My guess is much closer to 8,000 than to 7,000 pounds.

You're probably right. I know the tractor is much more spry when the backhoe is off.. and yes.. the subframe is beefy.. and heavy.. good thing too with the rock wrassling I do on my property.

Now as I negotiate with the wife for a trailer to haul this thing.. somehow I've got to come up with a plan to slip in a truck capable of pulling it all.

Jibber,
take a look at the ROPS tag. Its on the left hand side while facing the ROPS and kneeling on the tractor operators seat.
It states something like 7210# maximum. The BH-90 is without doubt the heaviest rear implement the tractor is rated for. The LA723 is the heaviest loader the tractor is rated for.
I'm guessing that with the BH-90 and the LA723 you are close to the ROPS rating since you can't carry the MMM and the sub frame. With the loaded tires you may very likely be in excess of the rating. The manual recommends against loading the tires when carrying the BH-90. Hey can that thing dig or what?
As far as trailers, you are looking at a 5 ton (9995#) minimum with a 20' foot deck, otherwise the hoe will overhang. I can tell you a ford club wagon (E350) with 351 v8 is rated for 9100#, and that is not enough if you get stopped by the "how much do you weigh" police. You need a serious pickup truck and a very understanding wife. If I was spending your money I would get a Ford 550 dump and a H&H electric / hydraulic tilt trailer. You would have a smile like that guy Bob in the "natural enhancement" commercial.
Best of luck,
don't get talked into an 18' trailer,

Any 3/4 ton HD, SD or whatever duty truck will work, I recommend diesel but any BB gas motor will work.

On your trailer make sure you take into consideration the empty trailer weight cause that is added to the GVW of the trailer...a 5 ton trailer may weigh 3000lbs and therefore your carrying capacity is only 7000lbs.

I know my 7000lb 16' pipe trailer weighs 1900lbs and I only have a 5100lb carrying capacity.

Actually, the F350 pickup is what I'm drooling over. I'm not going to start that ford chevy dodge thing here.. I have not aligned myself with any of the three.. but the 350 looks good to me now. I'll get more serious about comparisons later on when the tractor is paid off (next march) and I have more "capital" with the wife.

Wasn't aware of the ROPS limitations.. yes.. let's hope I don't roll the thing with all the attachments! When I bought the tractor I didn't have the backhoe so ballast was necessary.

I'd hate to think that I'll end up shackled to the wall if I try to haul my tractor with a mere F350 at the point!

550.. hmmmm. well, I'm dreaming anyway.. so I might as well expand my horizons!

When I am not buying I think BIG.

Why waste time daydreaming about an L3030 when I could be daydreaming about a M125SX? I like to go first class.

Think F750.
