Does anybody know the weight of a cubic foot of concrete? I starting to build a ballast for the 3PH. I just don't want to over do it/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

My engineering ref book has a range of light wt of 68 lbs to hvy weight 0f 200 lbs. Concrete with gravel as the aggregate has a avg. weight of 150 lbs per cubic foot

Derek -

A "normal" mix, fully cured weighs about 150 pounds per cubic foot.

Can't remember where I got the info, but I looked it up when I was thinking about making my own concrete beams and wanted to be sure I could move them with my tractor.

Concrete beams?

Don't ask. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Jeff,

You are quick. You beat me by a full 4 minutes, I think we agree on concrete. What a nice board, ask and you shall receive./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Concrete beams, OK I won't ask.

I once was looking really hard @ a concrete boat/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Again don't ask.

Yeah, I saw a concrete boat once, and I've also seen that floating concrete bridge across Lake Washington at Seattle. I still think that must be a figment of someone's imagination./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird,
Which bridge did you see. About 10 years ago the first floating bridge didn't/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif It sank in a storm when someone forgot that hatches should be closed. We have a new one now. Two floating bridges in Washington have gone to the bottom. The other was the Hood Canal bridge.
I wished I could have seen "Galloping Gurdy" when it went down.

I remember hearing about that bridge I saw in '72 sinking, but truth is, I'd forgotten about it. It was already gone when I passed through there in '91, I believe. I guess it's an artificial reef now? They didn't try to remove it, did they?
