I am trying to figure out how much my TC26 weighs as I believe it is too heavy for my trailer. My trailer only has a single axle with a 3500 pound rating. I put the tractor on once but was afraid to drive it due to the way it handled. The Manual says the tractor weighs 1600 pounds but doesn't say if that is a dry weight or if it includes the fuel and fluids. My rear tires are loaded and calculate out to about 175 pounds each. The rear ballast weight is 450 pounds. The bucket is a 54 inch one and weighs 225#. I have no idea what the rest of the LA12 loader weighs. So it appears that my tractor weighs 2226 pounds plus whatever the the FEL weighs. Anyone have any idea? How large of a trailer do I need to safely carry the tractor? I assume that dual axle would be safer and more stable. Would one with dual 3500 pound axles be sufficient or is it necessary to have dual 5000 pound axles? The local trailer dealer insists that I need the dual 5000 pound axles (which of course is a lot more expensive). I wonder if anyone has actually weighed their machine with the loader on it? Also what kind of safety factor is reasonable for the trailer capacity.
Thanks,
John

1600 for tractor
Loader, about 600
Tire fluid, 350
Rear ballast, 450
Bucket 225

I come up with 3225#

Your addition is wrong. I don't know how you got 2226 with what you listed.

A 7k ( dual 3500# axles) should be just fine. As it will weigh 2k-2.5k empty. Leaving you with over 1000# safety margin. That said, I don't think a 10k trailer costs much more, and if you ever plan on up sizing, or ever plan on needing to tow a buddys broke down pick up...

Yep. I added wrong. Used a pocket calculator and must have pushed the wrong buttons and didn't check it.
So having two 3500 lb axles is the same as having a 7K load capability?(Less the actual trailer weight of course) I was told that the actual load was somewhat less. I am a bit frustrated - seems like every dealer tells you something else - depending on what they have in stock. I think I will have to look at the actual labels on the trailers next time I go by their lot and see what the rated loads are for different configurations.
My trailer is definitely too small. I checked its label and it says max load is 2950 pounds.

Thanks

Its all a bit of a grey area. A 7k trailer usually means two 3500 axles. So yea, 7k is going to be the TOTAL of the load AND trailer.

But if you want to get even more confused, technically, you can subtract the tongue weight out. So if you put 5k on 7k trailer that weighs 2k, and you position the load to have 500# tongue weight, you really only have 6500 on the axles.

But either way, 4500-5000 is a pretty safe bet as to what a 7k trailer can haul.
