Was running my brand new JD 3005 today and all of a sudden it just shut off. Took the exhaust stack off opened hood. Humm don't see ant loose wires. Checked the safety switch, looks fine. Turn key. Nothing.
try in and out of gear, still nothing. Pull fuse box cover and find a blown 5 amp fuel pump fuse. Look at fuel pump
looks fine. Then I put a new fuse in after a 10 minute walk to the shop for tools and fuse. Starts right up and runs about 3 seconds, blown fuse again. Wtf ! So then I unplugged the fuel pump and put in a new fuse, I make it back to the shop and call my dealer. He ordered a new pump. Well I found the problem moments later.
The plug that goes into the pump was touching the little ear that was sticking out from the fuel hose clamp. In turn was blowing the fuse. Why post this ?
Well incase someone else might have a weird fuse failure like this they can make sure the plug is away from the hose clamp, the little crimp style.
