Weird grinding with clutch pedal pushed in, silent when out

Well the op is going to have to split the tractor, check the clutch components, flywheel and the crankshaft end play.

I have found only a little info on here about getting these 4110's split apart - I don't think i'll have any major problems., especially after reading about how SkipMarcy did his.

If anyone has any pages from a manual they can email me, that would be GREAT

What height are the clutch disc fingers supposed to be set at?

It sort of sounds like since "I just picked up a pretty nice TYM/Mahindra 4110 at an auction "with a new clutch""
I bet someone had the clutch replaced which most likely wasn't inexpensive (or maybe they just replaced disc) ...then after getting it back heard noise then put it up for auction.
Obviously when you tear it down and re-do it properly it should be fine. I'm thinking like we always did on cars is take flywheel to reputable machine shop, resurfaced and balanced. Then new everything, correct reassembly, things torqued to specs.

That kind of what i was thinking.... like a pad came loose and is "hangin' on by a rivet" and it's doing the whole "hammer mill thing" while it's spinning around inside the pressure plate.

when the clutch disc speed is at ZERO is when it is the loudest.... hmmmmmmmmm ..... So weird

If a piece of clutch facing is protruding outside the edge of the clutch disc and hitting the spinning pressure plate, it would be at it's loudest when the disc is not spinning.

I'm guessing it's on the face of the disc where the problem is rather than the edge. Anxious to see pics and an explanation when you get it apart.

Yep, but the flywheel and pressure plate are spinning around the stationary clutch disk. I assume the frequency of the "hammer mill thing" increases as engine RPM increases with the clutch depressed?

I just thought of something, which may be a really stupid idea since I can't see how it's made.
I assume you haven't starting taking it apart yet? I assume it has a bell housing.
I wonder if it's possible to cut somewhere on it like about 2"x3" window you could look in with a light to see what happening.
Easy to make a plate like 3"x4" to drill/screw over it. Or if there's room already to put one of those inspection cameras in.
