KeithB-
I do run my 4110 EVERY WEEKEND and the PTO, EVERY WEEKEND. Have been doing this EVERY WEEKEND for a year now. Have not missed one WEEKEND.
Guess what? The PTO solenoid still has to be reset. It is defective .... period.
Even if what you say is true (and it probably is MOST of the time) it is not reasonable for a manufacturer to expect a customer to do this. Notice that the man from Mahindra on this site has not said for everyone to run out once a week and run their tractor so that it won't fail. That's because that expectation is not reasonable. Lets keep it real.

If it is a case of dust and moisture finding its way into the unit...why don't they make it a sealed unit? Just my thought.

How does does in dust/moisure getting into the solenoid have anything to do with the fact when I use the 4110 FEL, it makes the PTO quit working?

I would think the FEL has nothing to do with the solenoid not working. To test this reset the solenoid and get the PTO turning. Turn off the PTO and raise and lower the FEL a couple of times, then see if the PTO will engage.

As I stated in my initial post on the thread, the dealer should have replaced the solenoid initially. Your having to reset the solenoid to engage the PTO is enough justification for the dealer to replace the solenoid.

I verified that all my dealer did was lubricate the solenoid reset switch and I haven't had a problem since. This was at least 1 year ago.

So 15 years later, after rebuiding transmission in 4110, pto wouldn't work. I had almost convinced myself I hadnt stab everything back in & was not looking forward to breaking tractor in half again. But then (always a but then), I stumbled on a post by KENB from '05 about a "reset" on the solenoid. Problem solved! 30 hours of shop time saved! Thanks & have a Blessed Day
