Weld on Pat's Easy Hitch?

I put a PEH on my 790 about a year ago.
I have hydraulic top, so the extra 4" is adds to the draft arms was a problem, so I modified my attachments at the top link to compensate.

Everything works, but not quite as well. The PEH are also quite bulky on such a small tractor/attachment.

My neighbor wore out the ball joints on his 40 yr old JD 8xx series tractor.
He bought just the ends, and I cut the draft arms and welded new ends on about 8 years ago.

Thinking about cutting the "box" off the PEH and about 4" off the draft arms and just welding them on.

Anyone ever done it?

I can't think of a downside, or why I would hate it.

At one time they offered weld on Pat's EH but they don't anymore.

I:MHO Pats hitch don't even come close to how easy
a 3 PH is to use! Some one said that you don't even
need to get off the tractor to put the levers down just
leave the levers down back up connect and that's it
all set to go to work if you don't need the PTO

I don't see why you couldn't weld on the easy hitch, I would not do it myself. Too permanent, although I guess new drag links would undo it if you changed your mind. I have new and old attachments that I frequently change. PEH works good for that. I extended my TL mount and the geometry is fine with everything. No attachment mods needed. Changing attachments has never been easier.

Better yet, I’d suggest weld on hooks like these. They’re heavier duty than the PEH and there is no slop with the captured ball inside the hook. PEH used to sell weld on hooks, but I don’t think they still do. These euro style hooks are available down to Cat 1 now and are quite common overseas and on larger domestic tractors.

Just my opinion but I’m not sure welding them on is a good idea. I had a sprayer that kept falling off and I’ll explain why. I believe another poster on this forum gave me the idea.

One thing if you bolt or weld the Pats on they won’t pivot. I also replaced the bolts with better grade bolts. When I removed the original Pats bolts the ends were mushroomed some and messed up the threads on the Pats that I fixed with a tap.

If put the Pats on loose and double nutted the bolts to allow them to pivot. I also used full sized washers instead of the bent ones. I could never figure out why the sprayer was falling off but I think with the lack of the Pats pivoting with the 3 point fully up it put the sprayer in a bind and forced it off. It seems to work better for me now.

I have mine mounted snug and rigid - The bolts that came with it appeared to be hardened. Anyway they had the typical yellowish color we expect hard bolts to have? I admit it is hard to have them perfectly vertical as there does seem to be some rotation that happens with the arms moving up and down. For now I'm not at all willing to cut and weld on this mod. I'm happy with it as a bolt on but I can see where somebody may want to do that as an alternative repair to an older tractor.

I second this 200%. You'll be glad you made the change to this style. It just works and works perfectly.

Those would work just fine. They aren’t brand specific. I’ve seen them at AgriStoreUSA.com, eBay, and from Mr MtnViewRanch for North American vendors.

Pats is OK if you like to weld nothing.
QH is good if you have all your and your neighbors tools made with standards.

EURO HOOKS are not QH.
Weld them on lower arms and that is all. You need not to chance your tools.
You can use both cat1 and cat2 tools by balls that have drilling for cat1 or other for cat2 size.

You can adjust them from the cabin very easy too.
Some welding job.

I made at first universal QH but it is too heavy.
Then I used EURO HOOKS
I made links from cabin to hooks and rope for hydraulic
top link. I have one feet long spring inside the rope keeping it upwards. That is fine.
QH weight is 50 kg, Euro hooks and my linkage 10 kg.
